Albertine Foundation Grants

Albertine Music is a grant program launched by the Albertine Foundation in partnership with Villa Albertine, designed to foster artistic collaboration and cultural exchange in the realm of music. The initiative aims to deepen musical dialogue between French and American artists, supporting innovative projects in the genres of jazz and classical music, ranging from Baroque to contemporary. The 2026 call for applications underscores the Albertine Foundation’s mission to strengthen Franco-American relations through creative programming, performance, and education in the arts. The Albertine Music 2026 program invites nonprofit organizations in France and the United States to apply for funding for professional-level music projects. The application window is open from December 1, 2025, until January 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. Selected projects must take place between September 1, 2026, and August 31, 2027. The program will fund three types of grants: Creative Grants, Touring Grants, and Educational Grants. Creative Grants support original collaborations, including U.S. premieres of French compositions and commissions by American ensembles. Touring Grants facilitate U.S.-based performances by France-based musicians, while Educational Grants enable workshops, residencies, and masterclasses within American educational institutions. Distinct juries will evaluate jazz and classical music projects separately, ensuring a nuanced review aligned with the artistic context of each genre. The selection criteria prioritize projects involving underrepresented artists or composers, works rarely presented in the partner country, and proposals advancing diversity and inclusion. Projects led by women artists and new generations of composers are particularly encouraged. All projects must demonstrate a clear structure and artistic vision, with presenting venues or nonprofit partners engaged at the time of application. Eligibility is limited to French or American nonprofit organizations representing professional-level artists or ensembles. Artists must be citizens or legal residents of their respective countries for the past five years and currently reside within their home territory. While individual artists cannot apply directly, they must be formally affiliated with a qualified nonprofit organization. For Creative and Educational Grants, applicants may be either American or French organizations. For Touring Grants, the artists must be based in France, and the project must include a minimum of three public events in different U.S. cities or institutions. Funding is available to support performance, rehearsal, recording, and educational activities. In the case of commissions, allowable expenses may include arrangements, compositions, and premiere performances. Tours must meet a minimum threshold of three engagements, and educational projects must be supported by written agreements from the U.S. academic institutions involved. The Albertine Foundation is supported in this effort by the French Ministry of Culture, Institut français, SACEM, and the Centre National de la Musique (CNM), among others. Applications must be submitted online through the designated platform, and all applicants must demonstrate nonprofit status at the time of submission.
