Health & Human Services in New Mexico
This funding opportunity supports nonprofit organizations and public agencies in specific New Mexico counties to improve community health and safety through services related to housing, food security, healthcare, and senior well-being.
The Santa Fe Community Foundation offers its Spring Community Grants program to nonprofit organizations operating within the counties of Mora, San Miguel, Rio Arriba, and Santa Fe, New Mexico. With a mission rooted in enhancing the well-being and vitality of Northern New Mexico communities, the Foundation’s grants prioritize direct service, policy advocacy, and collaborative approaches that drive tangible improvements in key areas. This specific grant cycle includes a major focus on Health & Human Services, aiming to foster conditions in which all people are healthy and safe. In the Health & Human Services track, the Foundation invites proposals that aim to improve access to affordable housing, food security, safety, healthcare, mental health services, senior care, and healthy neighborhood environments. Priority will be given to programs that demonstrate a strategic approach to addressing the systemic causes of inequity and poor health outcomes. This includes efforts that apply a social determinants of health lens and focus on marginalized populations. Eligible proposals might include initiatives that provide shelter or eviction prevention services to vulnerable populations; community-based food distribution systems that address food deserts; programs aimed at preventing domestic violence, child abuse, bullying, or improving safety for immigrant communities and people of color; and those increasing access to culturally appropriate and equitable healthcare services. Mental health services, especially those integrated into schools or that address trauma in marginalized groups, are also emphasized. Furthermore, the Foundation supports programs that build healthier communities through improved infrastructure, environmental quality, and access to transportation and recreation. Services that promote senior well-being—ranging from memory and home care to medication management and physical wellness—are also within scope. The Foundation is especially interested in systems-level change efforts that utilize community organizing, public information campaigns, or public policy initiatives to strengthen community health outcomes. Applicants must be nonprofit organizations working in one or more of the four eligible counties. Proposals should clearly articulate their intended outcomes and how their work aligns with the Foundation’s focus areas and strategies. While no specific matching funds are required, applications should demonstrate sustainability and measurable impact. The grant application window is currently open and closes on March 15, 2026. Applicants are encouraged to reach out to Diane Hamamoto, Director of Grants & Community Impact, for further assistance. She can be contacted at [email protected] or by phone at 505.988.9715 ext. 7008. More detailed guidelines and application instructions are available through the Foundation’s website.
