Halstead Community Grant Cycle

The Halstead Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Central Kansas Community Foundation, is currently accepting applications for its 2026 Halstead Community Grant cycle. This grant program is designed to support a range of projects and programs that benefit the Halstead, Kansas community. Eligible initiatives include those aimed at improving health, wellness, and overall quality of life for Halstead residents. With a commitment to enhancing the community, HCF provides financial support through two core funds: the Halstead Impact Fund and the Kansas Health Foundation-Halstead Fund. The Halstead Impact Fund allocates approximately $6,600 in funding for public, charitable, scientific, literary, and educational purposes within the Halstead community. Meanwhile, the Kansas Health Foundation-Halstead Fund, with about $3,400 available, focuses specifically on local health initiatives that promote healthy behaviors, lifestyles, and environmental improvements. Combined, these funds aim to strengthen the social and health-related infrastructure of the community. Grant awards typically range from $500 to $1,500, with applicants encouraged to specify a realistic minimum amount needed to implement their project in case full funding is not available. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in good standing with the IRS, qualifying public or governmental entities such as schools and municipalities, and churches or religious organizations that meet IRS charitable requirements. Organizations that do not meet these criteria directly may still apply with a qualified fiscal sponsor. Additional eligibility requirements include having experienced and ethical management and serving the Halstead area or the broader Central Kansas Community Foundation service region. The 2026 application window opens on April 6, 2026, and closes at 5:00 PM CST on May 6, 2026. Applications must be submitted online, and selected projects must not commence until funding decisions are announced, expected in June 2026. All funded projects must be completed by March 2027, with a final grant impact report due by then unless other arrangements have been approved. Additionally, organizations that have received funding in the two prior years must have submitted their previous impact reports to remain eligible. The grantmaking process is overseen by the HCF Grant Review Committee, which reserves the right to request additional information from applicants. The entire application and award process is governed by the procedures and rules of both the Halstead Community Foundation and the Central Kansas Community Foundation.
