PFCU Foundation Grants

The PFCU Foundation, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization affiliated with PFCU Credit Union, operates as a philanthropic entity committed to improving the communities served by the credit union. With a foundational belief in the transformative power of education and community support, the Foundation awards grants across several key pillars including Financial Literacy, Health & Wellness, The Arts, and Agriculture. These categories align with the Foundation’s broader mission to foster economic empowerment, health, cultural enrichment, and food security. The Foundation’s financial literacy pillar is rooted in its identity as a financial institution, emphasizing educational scholarships, support for skilled trades, and funding for youth and adult service organizations that promote lifelong financial literacy. In parallel, the health and wellness pillar funds initiatives focused on physical fitness, mental health awareness, and programs that enhance community well-being through outdoor recreation and social services such as shelters. The arts pillar supports cultural enrichment through investments in theaters, libraries, and museums. Lastly, the agriculture pillar underlines the Foundation’s commitment to rural development, backing projects like farmers markets, 4-H programs, hunger outreach, and community gardens to enhance food access and sustainable agricultural practices. Grant eligibility is primarily extended to nonprofit organizations, community groups, and registered charities. While individuals are not typically eligible, those proposing community-based projects may be considered on a case-by-case basis. However, PFCU employees, board members, and audit committee members are explicitly ineligible to apply. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate a clear community benefit, present a well-defined project plan with measurable outcomes, and preferably show a sustainability strategy for post-grant activities. All funded projects must serve or be located within the PFCU Credit Union’s operating area. Applications are submitted through an online portal, and the Foundation will be accepting submissions from March 1, 2026, to April 30, 2026. A paper-based option is available upon request. Required materials include a completed application form, contact and organizational details, project name, requested amount, and if applicable, proof of nonprofit status, a support letter (for individuals), and budget information. A Statement of Intent is mandatory, detailing the purpose of the request, anticipated impact, alignment with Foundation pillars, requested funding amount, and other sources of funding if applicable. Applications are reviewed by a committee established by the PFCU Foundation Board. The review process evaluates alignment with the Foundation’s mission, project clarity and feasibility, and the applicant's capacity to implement the initiative. While the Foundation rarely funds multi-year projects and does not cover general operating or maintenance expenses, it may provide funding for specific programs and, occasionally, general operations. Notification timelines align with the posted grant cycle dates. All applicants will be notified once evaluations are complete, though no interim status updates are provided. Grants are awarded as one-time funding and recipients are expected to comply with all reporting and regulatory requirements. Individuals selected for funding must obtain PFCU Credit Union membership prior to fund disbursement. The Foundation places strong emphasis on transparency, accountability, and tangible outcomes, ensuring that each grant directly supports community betterment in alignment with the organization's charitable objectives.
