NBCUniversal Local Impact Grants
This program provides unrestricted funding to community-focused nonprofit organizations in select U.S. markets, supporting initiatives in youth education, storytelling, and community engagement.
The NBCUniversal Local Impact Grants program is a philanthropic initiative designed to support community-focused nonprofit organizations in select local markets across the United States. Administered by Comcast NBCUniversal and its NBC and Telemundo-owned television stations, the program will distribute $2.5 million in unrestricted funding in 2026 to qualifying nonprofits that demonstrate measurable impact in their communities. The grant targets 11 Designated Market Areas (DMAs) where these stations operate, with a focus on empowering local solutions and community well-being. Organizations eligible for this grant must be U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit entities or fiscally sponsored organizations that have been in operation for at least one year by the time of application submission. They must also demonstrate total annual expenses between $100,000 and $1,000,000, with revenues exceeding $100,000. The program disqualifies applicants that have received $10,000 or more in annual cash, grants, or sponsorships from Comcast NBCUniversal or associated stations in the last three years. Schools and educational institutions, including their foundations and fiscally sponsored variants, are also ineligible. In addition, only one application per Tax ID number is permitted across all 11 participating markets. Grant awards are general operating grants and will not exceed 30% of an organization’s total annual expenses. Applicants must align with one of three designated focus categories: (1) Youth Education and Empowerment, which supports in-school or community-based programs focused on education and youth entrepreneurship; (2) Next Generation Storytellers, which fosters pathways for youth in arts, media, and communications fields; and (3) Community Engagement, which includes programs that strengthen local unity through volunteerism and regional service. Organizations must self-identify under one of these thematic areas as part of their application. Applications will be accepted online from March 24 to April 24, 2026, closing precisely at 7:59:59 PM Eastern Time. Interested applicants are encouraged to review local NBC and Telemundo station sites for detailed eligibility guidelines and links to application portals. Webinars and Q&A opportunities may be provided to assist applicants in understanding the grant’s scope and expectations. Submissions will be evaluated through a three-phase review process. The first phase will assess eligibility, alignment with program goals, and community impact. Finalists selected during the first round will undergo additional scrutiny by local station panels in the second and third phases. These panels will consider the organization’s track record, financial need, and demonstrable outcomes to select between three and eight winners per market. Award notifications will be sent via email to the designated primary contact on the application by September 2026. Grant recipients are expected to use funds in accordance with their submitted proposal narratives. The NBCUniversal Local Impact Grants program represents a long-term commitment by Comcast NBCUniversal to uplift local communities and empower nonprofits with unrestricted support to advance their missions.
