Rapid Equity Fund

The Rapid Equity Fund is a targeted funding initiative offered by the REACH Healthcare Foundation in collaboration with the Wyandotte Health Foundation. Now in its second year, the program focuses on accelerating access to funding for grassroots, community-based organizations that serve historically marginalized populations. The Wyandotte Health Foundation focuses its work in Wyandotte County, Kansas. Both foundations are committed to promoting health equity and supporting community-led initiatives. Their joint effort through the Rapid Equity Fund offers up to $10,000 in unrestricted funds per grantee, allowing organizations the flexibility to use the grant in ways that best serve their communities. However, organizations that already have an active REACH grant are ineligible for this opportunity. To qualify for funding, applicants must align with REACH’s mission of advancing health equity and provide direct or facilitated healthcare services. Examples of eligible activities include linking clients to healthcare through case management or community health workers, assisting with health insurance enrollment via navigators or specialists, providing access to mental health services such as therapy, and supporting transportation to healthcare appointments or preventative health screenings. Organizations must be either registered 501(c)(3) nonprofits or rural governmental entities, and they must have annual operating budgets not exceeding $500,000. Additionally, applicants must operate within the specified six-county REACH service area or within Wyandotte County. Funding is not available for direct aid to individuals, services for Medicare-eligible populations, medical research, disease-specific programs, or animal-assisted therapies. Other exclusions include endowments, fundraising activities, and coverage of operating deficits. Both foundations focus their grantmaking on clearly defined strategies and community-based interventions, rather than one-off activities or general events.
