The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) is the component of the U.S. Department of Justice responsible for advancing the practice of community policing by the nations state, local, territorial, and tribal law enforcement agencies through information and grant resources. The COPS Office has been appropriated more than $20 billion to advance community policing, including grants awarded to more than 13,000 state, territorial, local and tribal law enforcement agencies to fund the hiring and redeployment of more than 136,000 officers. The FY24 COPS Technology and Equipment Program (TEP) provides funding to state, territorial, local, Tribal, and other entities designated under the heading Community Oriented Policing Services, Technology and Equipment Community Projects/COPS Law Enforcement Technology and Equipment in JES Division C, which is incorporated by reference into Public Law 118-42, to develop and acquire effective law enforcement equipment, technologies, and interoperable communications that assist in responding to and preventing crime. The COPS Office is committed to advancing work that promotes civil rights and equity, increases access to justice, supports crime victims and individuals impacted by the justice system, strengthens community safety, protects the public from crime and evolving threats, and builds trust between law enforcement and the community.

This program provides funding for organizations to design and deliver training to support the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force network, which includes law enforcement, prosecutors, digital forensic specialists, and other related agencies/organizations that address child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and online child exploitation.

With this non-competitive solicitation, BJA seeks to request applications from 16 cooperative agreement recipients and one grantee that have been previously funded to support state, local, tribal, and territorial criminal justice agencies, courts, practitioners, and communities.

The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications for a Mental Health Awareness and Training Program for El Salvadors juvenile justice institutions. The purpose of this project is to provide training, education, and mentor programs for health, social care, and criminal justice practitioners to improve awareness, recognition, assessment, intervention, and management of mental health problems for employees across the juvenile justice system and the more than 500 staff and practitioners inside the four reinsertion centers (Centros de Integracin Social, CIS), four juvenile temporary detention centers (resguardos), and the three probation department offices, among others

With this solicitation, OJJDP seeks to operate and expand the OJJDP National Mentoring Resource Center, which will provide comprehensive mentoring resources, references, tools, and training materials and advance the implementation of evidence and research-based mentoring practices. The goal of the National Mentoring Resource Center is to enhance the capacity of mentoring organizations to develop, implement, and expand effective mentoring practices. This program furthers the DOJs mission to uphold the rule of law, to keep our country safe, and to protect civil rights.

With this solicitation, OJJDP seeks to provide training and technical assistance to Second Chance Act Youth Reentry grantees and practitioners to improve community supervision practices, produce better outcomes for youth and communities, reduce recidivism, improve public safety, and enhance jurisdictions access to the tools and training to adequately identify, as well as effectively serve, these youths needs. A multidisciplinary team of experts in implementation science, community supervision, adolescent development, trauma-informed care, data analysis, and performance measurement will help the selected jurisdictions improve their community supervision and reentry programs, policies, and practices.

The BJA FY24 Invited to Apply- Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Reallocation Funds Program grant aims to provide resources and support to state, local, and tribal correctional facilities to prevent, detect, and respond to sexual abuse and harassment, thereby enhancing safety for inmates and staff, and reducing the risk of sexual victimization.
